The great clean up!

I am soooooooooooo tired of the hair algae...so today since I am home with Zach sick...I cleaned the tank of hair algae (the best you can with that stuff). After 2 hours I think it looks pretty good.....not perfect but maybe with the Phosban now running it will stop it....only time will tell. Makes it embarassing to look at the tank when it is all covered in algae. After seeing the 2 tanks; Tyler and Lees, it made me appreciate the potential that ours has due to the fact that I am cleaning it daily. A little extra care is all it takes...hopefully will have a nice algae free tank with some nice free corals!

Free is good, very very good!

Met another local guy (this one from C.R.) and got more free stuff....some more pulsing Xenia (it doesn't look overly healthy though), Orange Digitata, a Montipora Capricornus (looks like a plate) and a leather toadstool. Very very cool.....Lee's tank hasn't been well taken care of over the last few months. The front of it was so covered in pink coraline algae that you couldn't see through it very well....and it was a bit overgrown with Caulerpa algae because his 5 large fish that kept it under control died....pump backed up and no water was moving in the tank...no oxygen. Sucks for him....but it was neat to meet a C.R. reefer! He has some great tanks though....2 180g side by side, pretty cool!

FYI-if we had bought the Montipora from local people it would have cost us over $80.00!!!!!!!!!!

Do you think Larry could use one for the lawn?

In Vic today and picked up a couple of fish from Japarto. A Lawnmower Blenny and a Yellow Clown Goby! The lawnmower will hopefully mow down some of the algae lawn as the bi-color Blenny doesn't bother with it.....but as insurance we got a Phosban Reactor too....better to be safe than sorry! That hair algae is a nuisance! And unsightly too....and then we just had to get the little yellow goby. Man is he cute...perches on the tank walls, rock, shrooms...just about anywhere....very very cool! Also got some freebies from Japarto; some striped shrooms (YAY to feed my addiction), some green with orange brown centre Zoos and some orange Zoos, PLUS some free corals from a local reefer there;TNTCanada, got a Kenya Tree, and some pulsing Zenia. Tylers tank was in the middle of being ripped apart because he had a nasty fish in there that was destroying everything....oh yah, on the Kenya Tree there are a couple of burnt orange Zoos too! SCORE! Pretty cool that we get some free stuff just by...asking!
